英语里 “the” 为什么有两种发音？

小词 the 有两种读音。大多数单词前读 “thuh”，比如 thuh banana。元音音素开头的单词前读 “thee”，比如 thee apple。这样读起来更连贯、顺口。所以是 “thuh dog”，但 “thee orange”。很多英语母语者不假思索就能做到。

关键在于发音，而不是拼写。“hour” 以元音音素开头（h 不发音），所以读 thee hour。“university” 以 “yoo” 音开头，所以读 thuh university。多听多模仿：下一个词的发音决定用哪一种。
