“在地上”、“在地板上” — 无冠词，也无“地板/地面”的单独词
东西掉在地上时，法语通常不用 sur le sol，而是说 par terre：mon sac est par terre、il est tombé par terre、assieds-toi par terre。没有冠词，没有单独表示“地板/地面”的词，介词也是 par 而不是 sur。无论室内室外，这两个词都能涵盖。
La terre 从脚下的地面延伸到花盆里的泥土，首字母大写 la Terre 则指地球。近亲 à terre 也存在，但用法较窄，多见于固定短语，如 mettre un genou à terre。真要单独说出那个表面本身时，用词是 le sol —— attention, le sol est mouillé。
